PROGRAMS & EVENTS
A spectacular evening unfolded on December 5, 2021 the last night of Hanukkah, at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in NYC for a Gala hosted by the Sephardic Jewish Brotherhood of America. A sizeable contingent from the Sephardic Temple attended, including: President Isaac Mayo, our Clergy, our Executive Director, several Board members and other Temple members. The event showcased the crucial work of the Brotherhood, past and present.
Awards to two of the three honorees were presented by members of the Sephardic Temple. Cliff Russo, on behalf of Martin I. Elias, introduced Dr. Albert Bourla CEO of Pfizer who was honored with the Service to Humanity Award. Joel Marcus introduced Sarah Aroeste, who was honored with the Sephardic Young Leadership Award.
Samantha Beja, member of the Central Council of the Sephardic Brotherhood and Chair of the Gala Committee, did a superb job in planning the event. Ethan Marcus, who so capably directs the Brotherhood as Managing Director, invites all of us to renew our relationship with and commitment to this excellent organization. Indeed, those gathered were inspired to contemplate the significance of coming together not only to honor illustrious members of the community but to envision the importance Sephardic Judaism has for our lives.
